16 mm double projection, color, silent, 13’, 2017.
Two prints of the same film about the reproduction of text on the typewriter are projected side by side, slightly out of synch. Though they were nearly identical upon leaving the laboratory, these two 16 mm reels of film now bear little resemblance to each other. Across the two screens, the projectors duplicate a typist who, behind the mute scratches and faded colors, endlessly repeats the same gestures aimed at maximizing the uniformity of reproduction. Each new screening constitutes a further variation of the pattern due to speed fluctuations of 16 mm projectors and the inevitable deterioration of these two ‘one-of-a-kind’ copies.
Screenings: Écran Voisin - Paris, Grands Voisins (July 2017)
