I will present “Slapstick Speculation,” a video essay and lecture-performance about the comedy of the 1929 Stock Market Crash at the Rencontres ArTeC at the French National Archives this Thurs., Oct. 10th. It is part of Comedy Objects, a new project that mixes historical research with speculative fiction to think about comedy workers in the United States during the Great Depression.
This first installment of Comedy Objects was developed during a postdoc at EUR ArTeC in 2023-2024—and will soon be published in the journal Images secondes.
